1961 Ghia L6.4 Coupe

Why I Love What I Do, Arizona Auctions 2015 Edition Part 1

I love my job! Once again, I was privileged to assist in bringing together my great friend and client John and a sensational car.

At the RM Auctions Arizona sale at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, AZ this stunning 1961 Ghia L6.4 coupe joined his collection of superbly styled cars, which range from Alfa Romeos to a  Citroen SM with 1950s and 60s Chryslers, Cadillacs, Lincolns, a Lancia  and even a Volvo in between.

The details on this rare car – one of only 26 built- are wonderful. The recessed taillights, the aircraft-like instrument panel, deeply sculpted leather seats, elegant Nardi wood-rim steering wheel and dramatic black & white color scheme are augmented by the powerful 383ci (or 6.4 liter) V-8.

The well-known ‘Hollywood’ connections of these super-chic hardtops make it right at home with the world in which he grew up and in many ways still lives- a kind of effortless SoCal style this car epitomizes.

With a number of concours event class wins under its belt, it will undoubtedly be a head-turner wherever it goes- and the owners’ two gray and black schnauzers will look terrific riding in it as well.
