(The World) March 19, 2019 – ‘Where in the world is Donald Osborne?’ Often times, everywhere is the appropriate answer, but this is just business as usual for Donald who is always in motion with new projects underway. Since the beginning of the year, he has already been back and forth across the country several times as well as crossed the Atlantic for a quick stop in Italy to check in on a few ongoing restoration projects for his clients. Filming for the new season of CNBC’s “Jay Leno’s Garage” began in February, with more time dedicated to Donald’s popular featured segments “Assess & Caress,” including several called “Behind the Bowtie, which give viewers a chance to better understand how the master appraiser works behind the scenes with his clients. In these episodes, an owner appears with his classic car on the show and Donald talks them through a dedicated appraisal to better understand what makes their car unique as well as how it fits into the bigger marketplace of classic car values. In 2017, Miles Collier first invited Donald to participate as faculty in the Revs Symposium, an experience Donald best describes with one word: “astounding.” March 2019 marks the 10th Biennial Symposium for Revs and under the overarching theme of “Protecting the Future of the Past,” Donald was invited to moderate two panel conversations as well as co-present a featured module over the course of the three-day symposium. On March 4th, he co-presented a gallery tour dedicated to “Iconic Designs,” considering the 1967 Lamborghini 350 GT, 1934 Chrysler Imperial Airflow Coupe, 1951 Cisitalia 202B coupe, McLaren F-1, and 1950 Cadillac 61 2-door coupe on display as part of Miles Collier Collections at Revs Institute. Later that day, participating attendees listened to Donald moderate a discussion on the changing world of restoration, “You Can’t Go Home Again” with four of the world’s leading restorers, then on March 5th, he guided a panel discussion on “The Future of Selling the Collectable Automobile,” exploring the changes technology has brought to the intersection of live auction, online auction and private brokers and their clients.

“As a writer, I should be able to, with words alone, bring an event to life for someone who wasn’t there. But literally Revs Meaningful Car Symposium, with its combination of shared knowledge, discovery, camaraderie and passion is so unique that it’s almost impossible,” says Donald in the aftermath of yet another “outstanding” symposium.

October 3-6 in Newport for the Audrain’s Newport Concours & Motor Week

Donald Osborne has accepted the honor of chairing the inaugural Audrain’s Newport Concours in Rhode Island, a new world class concours that is rooted by the esteemed foundation of the Audrain Automotive Museum. The city of Newport shares a rich historical connection with the automobile community that came to light during the Gilded Age with the Vanderbilt family’s great wealth and influence everywhere in the country, especially as it spilled over in their home town of Newport. Aside from Donald overseeing the highly-anticipated Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, the larger automotive-themed travel opportunity for attendees is the new Newport Motor Week, filled with a Tour d’Elegance, special musical performance evening and other exciting events, all set against the stunning backdrop of Newport’s grand coastal mansions.
